What to Do Prior to Meeting with Us?

At trial, the police will be referring to their notes to refresh their memories of the incident, you are entitled to the same.

Prepare a statement of your own regarding the incident. Importantly, you should be able to recall what intoxicants you had consumed, in what volumes, and at what time. A clear recollection of intoxication details is very crucial in many cases involving toxicology defences. So, before you forget, it is better to write it down, describing your activities in detail. Although your statement won’t be submitted as a piece of evidence or document, it will assist you and our lawyer during the trial. Usually, the trial dates are anywhere from nine months to a year after the charge has been laid. Please don’t postpone your personal documentation until then. In case you were out with friends or family, we would want them to provide a statement of what they can remember regarding the evening. So request them to do the same before they forget important details.

If you have any bar receipts, Interac or credit card statements that would assist in determining what you consumed, keep them safely with you.
